Child immunisations

All immunisations on the national schedule for children are free until they reach 18 years of age.

You can make an appointment with the practice nurse for your child’s immunisation. The New Zealand National Immunisation Schedule shows which immunisations (including boosters) your child is recommended to have between the ages of six weeks and twelve years, and when they need them.

The immunisation schedule helps to protect children from preventable diseases such as:
• Diphtheria
• Types of Pneumococcal
• Rotavirus
• Measles
• Mumps
• Rubella
• Tetanus
• Whooping cough
• Polio
• Hepatitis B
• Haemophilus influenzae type B
• Chickenpox
• HPV

We highly recommend vaccinating your child and are happy to answer any question or discuss concerns. Our nurses will send out reminders for each schedule visit. We can also discuss catch-up immunisation with you, if you have moved from overseas or changed practice, we can review your child’s previous Immunisation history and advised any recommended catch-up immunisation in line with our national schedule.

Flu Vaccines

Flu vaccine are available for children from approximately April annually. Please call to discuss this if your child is eligible or we can discuss non-funded options. Flu vaccinations are not on the national schedule but are recommended, especially if your child has a chronic condition, such as Asthma.
